Hello Amigo, If you are planning to apply for NEET MDS Kerala NRI Quota seats, i wrote this write up to make you understand most of the critical rules in easily understandable way so that you can take care.

Many of my batchmates and seniors nri applications got rejected not because they are actually ineligible, but because of document mistakes, incomplete relationship proof, or affidavit issues.

In this write up, you will understand:

  • Who is eligible under Kerala NEET MDS NRI quota
  • Which relatives can sponsor you
  • Documents required for NRI claim
  • Sponsor affidavit requirements
  • Common mistakes that lead to rejection

Who Can Apply for Kerala NEET MDS NRI Quota?

You can apply for Kerala NEET MDS NRI Quota if you are financially dependent on an eligible relative who is working abroad.

As per Kerala Government rules, the following relatives can act as sponsors:

  • Father
  • Mother
  • Brother or Sister
  • First Cousins (included under brother/sister category)
  • Husband or Wife
  • Brother or Sister of Father or Mother (including first cousins)
  • Half Brother / Half Sister
  • Adopted Father / Adopted Mother

Important Condition

Being related alone is not enough.

The sponsor must:

  1. Be working abroad, and
  2. The candidate should be financially dependent on that sponsor

This is one of the most important eligibility conditions under NRI quota.

Documents Required for Kerala NEET MDS NRI Quota

Candidates applying under NRI quota must upload specific documents during the application process.

Let us understand each document clearly.

1. Sponsor Passport & Visa Documents

You need to upload:

  • Passport copy of the sponsor
  • Visa copy / Green Card / NORKA Roots ID / OCI document

Important

The sponsor’s job or employment details should preferably be mentioned in any of these documents.

If employment details are already visible, then no issue.

If not, you may need an additional employment certificate (explained below).

2. Sponsor Affidavit for Visa Renewal (If Applicable)

Sometimes the sponsor’s visa may be under renewal process.

In such cases, the sponsor must provide a sworn affidavit stating that:

Valid visa renewal proof or acknowledgement will be produced before the timeline prescribed during the CEE allotment process.

This becomes important when updated visa documents are not immediately available.

3. Employment Certificate of Sponsor (If Job Is Not Mentioned)

If the sponsor’s profession or job details are not visible in the passport, visa, OCI, Green Card, or NORKA documents, then the candidate must upload:

Employment Certificate of the Sponsor

This certificate must be:

Attested by Embassy or Consulate authorities

Without employment proof, the NRI claim may face problems during verification.

4. Relationship Certificate (Most Important Document)

This is the document where many students make mistakes.

Candidates must obtain a relationship certificate from Revenue Authorities clearly proving the relationship between:

Candidate ↔ Sponsor

Why This Matters

Simply mentioning terms like:

  • Uncle
  • Aunt
  • Cousin
  • Niece

is not enough.

Kerala CEE expects the exact relationship chain to be clearly explained.

Correct Way to Mention Relationship

Instead of writing:

Uncle

The certificate should clearly explain the relationship such as:

  • Father’s elder brother
  • Mother’s first cousin brother
  • Father’s sister’s son

The relationship link should be specific and easy to understand.

Common Mistake That Leads to Rejection

Many students upload certificates that only mention:

Uncle / Aunt / Cousin / Niece

without explaining how exactly the sponsor is related.

Such certificates are commonly rejected.

Before uploading, carefully verify whether the relationship has been properly explained.

Educational Certificates Can Also Help

The relationship between the candidate and father/mother, as recorded in school or educational certificates, may also be accepted as supporting proof.

So if required, keep those records ready as well.

5. ₹200 Stamp Paper Affidavit from Sponsor

The sponsor must submit a sworn affidavit on ₹200 stamp paper.

This affidavit should also be:

Notarized by a Notary Public

The affidavit must clearly mention that:

  1. The student is financially dependent on the sponsor
  2. The sponsor will bear the entire course expenses
  3. Tuition fees and special fees for the complete course period will be paid by the sponsor

Do not ignore this document. Many students focus only on passport and visa documents but forget affidavit requirements.

Common Reasons Why Kerala NRI Applications Get Rejected

Here are some common mistakes students make while applying:

1. Relationship Not Clearly Established

Writing only:

Cousin / Uncle / Aunt

without properly explaining the relationship chain.

This is one of the biggest reasons for rejection.

2. Missing Employment Proof

Sponsor’s job is not visible in passport or visa documents, and no embassy-attested employment certificate is uploaded.

3. Missing Notarization

The sponsor affidavit is uploaded, but it is not notarized by a Notary Public.

4. Expired or Incomplete Visa Documents

Visa validity issues or missing renewal acknowledgement can create verification problems.

5. Poor Quality Document Uploads

Blurred or unclear scans can delay or complicate document verification.

Always upload:

  • Properly scanned PDF files
  • Correct document orientation
  • Clear and readable text

Kerala NEET MDS NRI Quota Document Checklist

Before final submission, make sure you have the following documents ready:

  • Sponsor passport copy
  • Visa / Green Card / NORKA / OCI documents
  • Visa renewal affidavit (if applicable)
  • Embassy-attested employment certificate (if required)
  • Relationship certificate from Revenue Authorities
  • ₹200 stamp paper notarized affidavit from sponsor
  • Supporting educational certificates (if required)

One Final Advice for you

Do not wait until the last date to arrange NRI documents.

Documents such as the relationship certificate and notarized affidavit may take time, and if corrections are required, last-minute submission can become stressful.

So before final submission, verify every document carefully and ensure the relationship details are clearly explained.
