Pass Criteria for Theory and Practical Examinations
- Minimum Pass Marks for Most Courses: A candidate must secure a minimum of 50% marks in each of the theory and practical papers separately to pass, except for specific courses like Communicative English and Elective modules.
- Communicative English and Elective Modules: The minimum pass mark for Communicative English and each Elective module is 40%. These marks are not included in the calculation of the Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA).
- Mandatory Modules: Students must pass all mandatory modules within courses, with a minimum pass mark of 50% for each module.
- Separate Passing Requirement: A candidate must pass separately in both internal and external examinations for each course, and this distinction must be reflected in the mark sheet.
- Reappearance for Failure: If a candidate fails in either theory or practical, they must reappear for both components (theory and practical) of that paper.
- Grace Marks: Grace marks of up to 5 can be added to the theory marks of one course/subject only in a semester, provided that this addition enables the student to pass the semester examination.

- Pass for Communicative English and Electives is 40% and above (Grade Point 4, 40–49.99%).
- For Nursing Courses and all other courses, Pass is at C Grade (5 grade point), i.e., 50% and above.
- For English and electives, Pass is at P Grade (4 grade points), i.e., 40% and above.
Progression and Completion Criteria- BSc Nursing
- Semester Progression: Candidates must clear all previous examinations before appearing for the fifth and seventh semester examinations, though they are permitted to attend consecutive semesters. All previous examinations must be cleared before appearing for the final year examination.
- Maximum Duration: The maximum period to complete the B.Sc. Nursing course successfully should not exceed 8 years.
- Award of Rank: Rank will not be awarded to candidates who fail in one or more courses or do not complete the program within 4 years.
Attendance Requirements- BSc Nursing
- Theory and Practical Attendance: A candidate must have a minimum of 80% attendance (irrespective of the kind of absence) in both theory and practical components of each course/subject to be eligible to appear for the examination.
- Practical Areas for Degree Award: A candidate must have 100% attendance in each of the practical areas before the award of the degree.
